Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that the BRICS member states launched the preparatory process for expanding the group and began discussing new candidates for membership.
In a statement today, Ryabkov said that Iran and Argentina have submitted two applications to join the BRICS, and that other countries have expressed their desire to join as well.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had previously announced that the decision to approve the admission of new members is taken unanimously by the current members, namely Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa, noting that Moscow and Beijing support the expansion of the group and that the crucial matter in this area is to ensure the effectiveness of its work and increase The practical return of its activity.
It is noteworthy that the BRICS countries provide the main part of the world's resources, producing 70 percent of aluminum, 76 percent of palladium, 28 percent of gold, 44 percent of wheat, 53 percent of rice and 34 percent of the world's industrial production.
