A child was critically injured in a serious swimming accident in Bavaria.
However, the intervention of an 18-year-old prevented worse things from happening.

In Ulm, on the first weekend in July, a man drowned trying to swim across the Danube.
And in Würzburg, the body of a tourist who attended a bachelor party the night before was found.
A serious swimming accident on Sunday in Marktsteft did not end quite so tragically – and that is largely thanks to an 18-year-old.
Serious swimming accident in Bavaria: child suddenly no longer visible
On Sunday, July 3rd, a mother and her eight-year-old son visited the bathing bay "An der Fähr" of the Main in Marktsteft, near Würzburg.
According to the police press release, she "suddenly could no longer see her offspring around 6:30 p.m.".
She immediately began to search for him loudly, alerting other bathers as well.
The other bathers, who immediately supported the mother in the search for her injured son, searched the water together.
Finally, an 18-year-old discovered the boy under the water surface, jumped into the Main and brought the child ashore.

Child critically injured in swimming accident in Bavaria: 18-year-old prevented worse
The people helping with the search immediately started with first aid measures.
They carried this out until the alarmed rescue service and an ambulance arrived.
Then the professionals took care of the boy.
After the initial treatment, the 8-year-old was “flown to a nearby hospital” with life-threatening injuries, according to the police.
The Würzburg criminal police have taken over further investigations on site.
There is no evidence of third-party negligence.
It can be assumed that the courageous intervention of the young people prevented a worse outcome of the serious swimming accident.
