The shots in a Copenhagen shopping center have caused several deaths and injuries.

The police confirmed this a few minutes ago in their press statement.

"It is very, very serious - and fortunately it rarely happens that something like this happens," said police chief inspector Søren Thomassen, according to a report by broadcaster DR. The current information and knowledge are still uncertain, the investigators would work with full force reconnaissance work.

Nevertheless, the police have released the first details about the arrested person: According to Thomassen, the suspect is a 22-year-old "ethnic Dane".

The man was arrested near the scene of the crime.

There is currently no evidence of other perpetrators.

Thomassen did not want to rule out that it could have been an act of terrorism.
