2022-07-04T14:12:07.478Z

The sexagenarian will be fixed on his fate on Tuesday, at the end of the seven days of his trial for the assassination of the student in September 2018.

Life imprisonment, with 22 years of security.

This Monday, at the Assize Court of Bas-Rhin, the Advocate General demanded the maximum penalty incurred against Jean-Marc Reiser, accused of having murdered the young Sophie Le Tan on September 7, 2018

. A ray of sunshine shattered net”

by “

absolute violence”

, underlined the representative of the public ministry.

The death of the Strasbourg student is

“not a regrettable incident, as [Jean-Marc Reiser] said on Friday.

It is indeed in a trap that Sophie Le Tan fell”,

he continued.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Prosper, an expert psychiatrist, ruled out any "abolition or alteration of discernment" of the respondent, declaring him

"fully responsible"

for his actions in the event of a guilty verdict.

The psychiatrist insisted on

“the characteristic traits of the narcissistic personality”

of Jean-Marc Reiser, as well as the

“total domination”

of the latter over his entourage.

A deposition of nearly two hours - conducted without notes, as Dr. Prosper is customary - which came to complete the disturbing portrait, drawn during the trial, of this man sentenced to fifteen years of criminal imprisonment in 2003 for several rapes and acquitted in 2001 in the case of the disappearance of a young woman, Françoise Hohmann.

The lawyers for the Le Tan family, for their part, pointed to the

"violent"

character of the accused with

"the women who knew him"

, the

"lies"

of the one

"who never ceased to deny then to minimize his responsibility"

in this affair, as well as his

"coldness"

during the hearing.

“His crocodile tears did not deceive anyone”

, launched Me Stéphan, in reference to the tears of Jean-Marc Reiser during his interrogation on the facts, Friday afternoon.

During this interrogation, the sexagenarian admitted to having killed and dismembered the young woman, but persisted in denying homicidal intent and premeditation.

On the contrary, in the eyes of the Advocate General and the civil party lawyers,

“the premeditation is beyond doubt”

.

"Appointment with Death"

In September 2018, Sophie Le Tan became

"the prey"

of Jean-Marc Reiser, thus traced Me Welzer, the other civil party lawyer.

The student in economics and management, who is looking for an apartment for the university year, spots an advertisement on Le Bon Coin and comes into contact on September 4 with the alleged renter.

On September 7, she left the hotel where she worked as a night receptionist to go to the appointment set with the respondent.

On this day when she celebrates her twentieth birthday,

"the unfortunate Sophie"

has in fact "

appointment with death"

, insisted Me Stéphan.

What happened in this apartment in Schiltigheim, a neighboring town of Strasbourg?

Only Jean-Marc Reiser knows this.

Only one thing is certain: Sophie Le Tan will not come out alive.

The remains of his body, dismembered with a hacksaw, will be found by chance on October 23, 2019 in the forest.

This Monday afternoon, the defense lawyers' turn to plead.

The trial will end on Tuesday with the defendant's last words, the deliberations of the three judges and six jurors and the verdict.

"Tomorrow, by your decision, you will restore to Sophie the humanity that Jean-Marc Reiser took from her"

, launched Me Stéphan to the court at the conclusion of his argument, under the watchful eye and sometimes full of tears of the family of the disappeared.
