This technique of applying varnish and filing the nails makes it possible to "lengthen" them visually, as shown in this video tutorial from an expert manicurist.

No need to resort to tricks to sport a glamorous manicure when you have short nails.

Just varnish and file them in the right way, to make them look longer and thinner.

The British nail artist Alexandra Teleki (known under the pseudonym "The Hot Blend" on social networks) suggests using the "Italian nail painting" method, in reference to this particular style of manicure. popular in the country.

In a video tutorial posted on her TikTok and Instagram accounts, the expert reveals how to perform this technique “Usually used on short, square nails”.

Thin and lengthen nails

First, the specialist begins by filing the tips of her model's nails, creating a neat horizontal line, before doing the same thing on their two other sides, so as to form a square or a rectangle.

"You can see the difference after shaping them," she says, revealing the result of this first step.

After shaping, she says clean the nails with pure acetone.

Then, she applies a first gel varnish base, before covering it with two additional layers of fir green.

The right gesture to lengthen and refine the nail in a stroke of the brush?

“Go as close to the cuticles as possible without touching the skin.

Then, paint a vertical line and leave a small gap between the gel and the nail wall,” she reveals.

It is this small empty space that creates an illusion of extra length and seems to thin the nail widthwise.

Alexandra Teleki assures that this method can be "used on a classic fully colored manicure or on nail polish at the tip".

An easy and accessible tip for everyone to ditch false nails and embrace Italian glamor right down to your fingertips this summer.
