Erding
– Streets are often dedicated to important personalities, but the person behind them is quickly forgotten.
Today we visit Zollnerstraße in the center of Erding, which is dedicated to the former city chaplain Anton Zollner.
It leads from Landshuter Straße to the Grüner Markt.
Little is known of Franz Anton Zollner from his time as a Catholic priest; his great importance for his home town of Erding only became effective after his death in 1818 and the associated will.
Zollner bequeathed his entire fortune to the citizens of Erding so that "every hard-working, honest and domestic citizen could receive an interest-free loan in case of need or to procure commercial materials".
The original assets of the founder were considerable, including land and capital, from which the town of Erding still profits today.
The banks gradually took over the granting of loans, which is why the Zollner'sche Leihfond today supports charitable goals, including the "promotion of charitable purposes" or the "raising of funds for the establishment and operation of day-care centers", as stated on the website of the city of Erding is to read.
The original will of the charitable city chaplain is in Munich with the foundation supervisory authority of the government of Upper Bavaria.
The city of Erding has the first certified copy from 1823, explains press spokesman Christian Wanninger.

In his will, Zollner appointed the respective mayor of the city of Erding and elected magistrates to manage his assets.
This responsible task is now in the hands of the foundation committee, which is made up of members of the city council.
In the current legislative period, the committee includes the city councilors Stefanie Winkler (CSU), Willi Vogl (CSU), Cornelia Ermeier (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), Johann Fehlberger (Free Voters), David Ritter (Erding Now) and Stefan Grabrucker (SPD). on, the chair is Mayor Max Gotz (CSU).
Franz Anton Zollner was born the son of a baker in 1763 in Erding at today's Friedrich-Fischer-Straße 7, within sight of his later place of work, the parish church of St. John.
A commemorative plaque was attached to his birthplace with the inscription “Birthplace of the beneficiary / Anton Zollner, / founder of the Zollner loan fund in Erding.
/ Born June 15, 1763. Died October 15, 1815.”, also a reference to the Bösl dental practice on the first floor.
In addition to his church duties, Zollner was probably a kind of polymath who also worked as a local school inspector.
In addition, the churchman worked as a geometer, physicist and chemist, as can be read in Bernhard Zöpf's book on the Erdinger district court.
Four years before his death in 1818, the forward-looking chaplain drew up his blessed will.
The Foundation's income mainly comes from leases and ground rents, which are correspondingly meager when interest rates are low.
