The first stone of the “Dôme des bords de Marne” residence, which will bring together 158 homes, shops and services, was laid this year.

Thing promised, thing due.

The redevelopment of the city center of Champigny-sur-Marne was a commitment of Laurent Jeanne (Libres!), who conquered the city two years ago.

This Monday morning, the first stone of the “Dôme des bords de Marne” residence was symbolically laid.

A major project awaited by residents and traders.

Where is downtown?

Campinese people often ask me,” says the mayor.

This is the question that this property complex wants to answer.

With one objective: “that the building integrate into the city as if it had always existed”, specifies the architect Christian Plateau.

"Everything has been sold", according to the architect

And “it was time!

», Continues Laurent Jeanne, in front of about sixty people.

The city center project had been discussed since 1989 by successive municipalities, but had never seen the light of day.

“The issues are cultural, commercial and ecological,” he lists.

While the “Dôme des bords de Marne” residence is to accommodate 158 apartments at the corner of rue Verdun and rue du Marché, it will be made up of shops, in particular a 2,500 m² Monoprix, and services such as a veterinary practice.

And even before the construction, "everything was sold", according to the architect who concludes with "a great success".

A finding that delights the mayor: "40 buyers go to the notary this week".

This new complex will be accompanied by a public car park with 168 spaces and another private car park with 197 spaces.

The project is combined with the development of a new media library "a necessity", according to the mayor.

The old one will give way, with the old Monoprix, to a gourmet hall.

All this, by promoting “pedestrianization and facilitating traffic”, insists Laurent Jeanne.

“Available to those who can afford it”

For Arif Hiridjee, president of the Dynamic Enterprises Association of Champigny, the project will allow the city to become “the new flagship of eastern Paris”.

Close to the banks of the Marne and the Tremblay and Plateau parks, the new city center will allow its inhabitants to stroll through the streets and the curious to discover "a dynamic city", he insists.

Eren Dagasan, manager of a shoe repair and locksmith shop is impatient: “I knew the project of the former municipality and this one is much more qualitative in terms of materials and architecture.

»

But the former mayor who has become an opponent Christian Fautré (PCF) recalls that his successor “benefits from the work done by our municipality, a work of fifteen years”.

And to denounce while "the shovel was ready", the modification of the local urban plan which allowed to have housing at market prices but also housing in social accession.

"I am campaigning for a city for all, now this city center will be accessible to those who can afford it," he accuses.
