All in white: The "White Dinner" attracted around 300 guests to the Loisachufer on Saturday.

They enjoyed the evening in a very special atmosphere.

Wolfratshausen – Since 2018, the association Lebendige Altstadt Wolfratshausen (LAW) and the advertising group Kaufstadt Wolfratshausen have been organizing an extraordinary culinary and social gathering on the old Floßlände every year – minus a year’s break due to corona, of course.

And a week ago, the "White Dinner" had to be postponed due to a thunderstorm warning.

On this Saturday evening, however, there was no holding back.

White suit and black shoes with yellow ribbons

"We are glad that so many came," LAW boss Ernst Gröbmair welcomed the 300 or so guests.

His white suit contrasted with his black shoes laced with yellow ribbons.

Many of the visitors felt the same way when choosing their clothes.

Because most people found light-colored tops, pants, blouses and skirts in their closets.

When it came to shoes, many didn't see it that closely.

Head of the advertising district, Hans-Joachim Kunstmann, thanked his predecessor Ingrid Buckler, who was not present, in shorts.

The current SPD local chairwoman first organized the "White Dinner" in Wolfratshausen four years ago, which has already been successfully carried out in several large cities.

The inner city project fund and the two clubs contributed to the financing.

Mood lighting

Unlike last year, no light show illuminated the sky over the Loisach this time.

However, the former culture officer Alfred Fraas lent out long cables that were needed to connect the green, red and blue lighting elements by lighting designer Günter Klügl.

This also pleased Agnes Handfest.

The 34-year-old from Munich followed the invitation of her friend Salwa Olol from Wolfratshausen to spend an evening in this stylish ambience for the first time.

"I'm totally taken with the atmosphere: I've never known anything like it before," enthused Handfest.

Her companion, who was born in Somaliland, noticed positively that dogs are also welcome.

Anneliese Deutsch has never missed a Wolfratshauser "White Dinner".

"It's always something special: something has to be done in our city, otherwise everything falls asleep," explained the 75-year-old.

The former owner of a foot care practice booked a table with friends and neighbors.

Shortly before midnight, the last visitors clear their tables

Carmen Gröbmair-Jonas accepted the online registrations in her office.

"Unfortunately, due to corona diseases, there were some short-term cancellations," she regretted.

Four hours before the opening, she set up the tables with helpers.

Alexandra Fischer provided the musical accompaniment.

At a decent volume she sang classics like the Sam Cooke evergreen "Wonderful World".

This was matched by the after-dark chandeliers on some of the tables.

Shortly before midnight, the last visitors put the leftovers of their food, rubbish and empty bottles in their baskets and went home.

With the exception of one participant who accidentally almost swallowed an insect, the organizers did not record any negative incidents.

"Everything remained peaceful and relaxed," summed up Ernst Gröbmair with satisfaction.

He was relaxed about the fact that the mayor and city councilors of Wolfratshausen invariably stayed away from the social event.
