The Eiffel Tower is full of rust and needs extensive restoration, but instead the famous tower is being repainted for 60 million euros (about $ 62 million) ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024, according to secret reports obtained by the French magazine "Marian".
The 324-meter-high metal tower was built by Gustav Eiffel in the late 19th century and is considered one of the most popular tourist sites in the world.

According to confidential documents compiled by experts, the condition of the monument is not good and is full of rust.
"It's not complicated. If Gustav Eiffel had visited the place, he would have had a heart attack," a site manager told Marian.
The company that runs the site, Societe d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE) did not respond to requests for comment.

The Eiffel Tower is currently being repainted at a cost of 60 million euros in preparation for the 2024 Olympics, the twentieth time the tower has been painted.
About 30% of the tower was supposed to be scrubbed and repainted by two new layers, but due to work delays caused by the corona plague and the fact that there is lead in the old paint, so far only 5% of the tower has been repainted, according to the report.
SETE does not want to close the tower for a long time for fear of losing revenue from tourists, the report said.
