It is well known that all good things come in threes.

And so the sports home of SV Langenbach was inaugurated on Sunday with a two-year delay due to Corona and on the third attempt.

Langenbach

– "Today is a real holiday," said Mayor Susanne Hoyer when she officially handed over the new sports center together with SVL Chairman Christian Huber on Sunday afternoon.

Actually, the sports home, which according to Huber is the "largest construction project in the club's history to date", should have been inaugurated two years ago, immediately after completion in March 2020.

But Corona thwarted the plan.

Now it is "time that we can celebrate this successful work," said the head of the town hall - above all because "so much initiative, self-work, personal commitment, physical effort and financial support" are associated with it.

6850 hours were worked by helpers

The most important figures and data for this project were written down by Hoyer and Huber on a soccer ball as part of a small ball game.

For example, October 23, 2018 - the day on which the municipal council gave the municipal agreement to build a sports home.

Susanne Hoyer noted the planned construction costs at the ball as 770,000 euros, Christian Huber added the total costs at 790,000 euros.

"How can that work?" asked the head of the town hall, given the minimal increase in costs in difficult economic times.

The SVL boss knew the answer only too well: "We worked sparingly" - and put in 6,850 hours and more of our own work;

a number that Huber also immortalized on the football.

Not to mention the €250,000 grant from the municipality.

"Without him it would not have been possible," says Huber.

Thanks to the construction team and everyone involved

So now, on July 3, 2022, the inauguration was celebrated.

And many guests were there - from the many voluntary construction and festival helpers to club members and guests to the honorary and founding members of the club.

A big thank you from Hoyers went to the "construction crew and the planning team" with Bert Summer, Josef Wesan, Rudi Zimmermann, Franz Schild, Dieter Schneider, Helmut Peter and Albert "Charly" Oberprieler.

According to Hoyer, the latter is "the only one who can say how to build two sports homes".

Hoyer and Huber were happy, proud and grateful for the 136 “employees” in total, because Huber knew that “it wouldn't work without them”.

"You don't build a sports center alone." Thanks also went to the participating companies, sponsors and the municipal council.

"Now the SVL has a home again that enables it to do better than before its social task and the cultivation of camaraderie as well as social gatherings," said Hoyer happily.

And she hopes that "the sporting spirit will be preserved and fueled with this house".

And "so that the spirit of sport can continue to blow", she presented the sports club with an SVL flag.

Of course, Hoyer didn't fail to mention that SV Langenbach "is still improving in terms of sport: The first team has confidently and unbeaten been promoted to the A-class as B-class champions.

Colorful program and some performances

After Deacon Christoph Gasteiger had blessed the "new" clubhouse, which had to be painted for the first time before the festival, there was a varied program of celebrations.

A bouncy castle, a goal wall and a football course were set up for the children, and they were also allowed to practice shooting with the fire brigade.

The taekwondo and fitness departments showed their skills on the lawn, and the children and youth guard Langenbach, who train regularly in the clubhouse, also presented their show.
