Flower thieves are constantly destroying the flowers in Wolfratshausen.

This not only causes financial (and visual) damage, but also a lot of work.

Wolfratshausen – They embellish the appearance of the Loisachstadt with their blaze of color on numerous squares and streets: flower pots, lavishly planted with geraniums, viburnums, spider flowers and marigolds.

Some citizens seem so "enthusiastic" about it that they rip up the plants.

One part is taken away, another ends up on the street or in the next bush.

"I just think it's primitive," says Matthias Schmidberger from the Wolfratshauser Stadtwerke.

The annoyance can be clearly heard in his voice.

It's not just the financial damage when the flowers disappear.

"It's also disrespectful to the nursery that pulled them and to our employees who planted them." In addition, an employee would have to drive off again to replace them.

"The damage now adds up to a good 1,000 euros, including the working time," calculates Schmidberger.

Flowers are "always stolen" - "but this year it's particularly bad"

The fact that flowers are stolen is nothing new for the construction depot foreman.

"It happens all the time.

But this year it's particularly bad.” Some are vandalized, others remain untraceable.

"Maybe they end up in the cemetery or in front yards at home - I don't know."

The incidents were reported to the police and witnesses are being sought

Schmidberger cannot identify a focal point, only a tendency can be identified.

"The flower tubs in Waldram next to the sun pharmacy, at the Loisachhalle and at Schwankl-Eck are always cleared away." A building yard employee had to come here for the third time to refill the planting trough.

"Otherwise, the trail runs right through the city." The police are aware of the incidents.

"It was reported to us," confirms the authority on request.

They ask that any witnesses call 0 81 71/ 4 21 10.
