In many places, warrior and soldier associations are fighting for their existence.
The Goldacher KSV is an exception - which the anniversary celebrations made clear.
Goldach
- "He is one of the most active of the 56 clubs in the district of Freising and has no problems with young people," said district chairman Otto Radlmeier, who expressed the utmost respect for those responsible.
Four clubs, he added, can celebrate their founding celebrations this year.
Goldach experienced what was probably the greatest: the festivities for the 100th anniversary lasted three days.
After a night of partying with the Moosners and a performance by music cabaret artist Roland Hefter, the grand finale followed on the Sunday of the festival – with a festival service, wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial and a festive procession through the streets of Goldach.
With sunshine and high summer temperatures, numerous club delegations took part.
The head of the town hall recalls the “long and eventful history of the club”
At the festive service in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche, Mayor Josef Niedermair recalled the "long and eventful history of the association", which began in 1921 and was characterized by two world wars, the grief and trauma of the people.
“Back then, 100 years ago, doing what is now required in the Christian spirit was certainly the starting point of this community,” emphasized Pastor Thomas Gruber in his sermon: “Meeting men in a community where you had the same experiences , was required.
People understood each other there without words.
A tremble, a tear, a short remark about the terrible experience of the war was immediately understood by everyone.”
Appeal to the younger generation to do their part
Today, the head of the town hall emphasized, the focus is on admonition and peace work.
In their commitment to reconciliation, club boss Rudi Lamprecht also emphasized, warriors' and soldiers' clubs have all the more reason to exist today in view of a war in Europe.
He appealed to the younger generation to do their part.
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.
Niedermair paid tribute to the festival committee: "After two years of Corona, you can feel the quality of life and joy that was taken from us.
And that's why I'm pleased that KSV Goldach dared to organize this festival with a lot of work".
They value this as culture and tradition, "as what makes our place worth living in".
