50 years of large community: The people of Egling want to celebrate their anniversary properly.

When and how is not yet certain.

1972 was the year of local government reform.

Egling was one of the first large communities to form.

It was about building a school together.

Egling

– Local government reform was the local topic par excellence in 1972. That applied not only to the district, but also to the communities that had to come together.

The second community in the old district of Wolfratshausen after Dietramszell to take this step was Egling.

On January 1, 1973, Egling, Thanning, Ergertshausen, Neufahrn and Moosham formed the new municipality of Egling.

Endlhausen and Deining only came along later, the municipalities had a little longer than the rural districts, namely until 1978. One thing is certain: Egling wants to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this special date in a fitting manner.

"We will find a worthy framework," promises Mayor Hubert Oberhauser.

The Eglingers did not want to send their children to Ascholding

The debate picked up speed in the second half of 1972, parallel to the Olympic Games in Munich.

There was the possibility that a primary school would be built in Ascholding, which had decided on Dietramszell.

This in turn would have meant that the Eglingen youth would have had to make the journey to the neighboring municipality.

On the other hand, the Eglinger council protested in early September in a harsh statement to the Wolfratshausen school authority.

"The school opportunities of our secondary school students are never in the remote and isolated Dietramszell," it says.

The long journey not only puts a strain on the children's health, but also on the community coffers because of the high travel costs.

There was tremendous respect for the first mayor of the greater municipality of Dietramszell, Martin Eichner, and his tactical skills.

"Eichner Martl is a good Mo', but he's a diplomat," they whispered to themselves.

Three young mayors provide the impetus

In the end, three young mayors who had only recently been elected to office took the reins into their own hands.

The article “First steps towards the large community of Egling” in the Isar-Loisachboten of 18 September states: “A decisive impetus only came when the three mayors of Thanning, Neufahrn and Ergertshausen, newly elected in June, Manfred Nagler, Georg Bichlmayer and Hans Dosch, put together on a local political course.”

This article was about the Neufahrner citizens' assembly on this topic.

The usual procedure was as follows: First, the municipal councils had to declare their willingness to merge, then a citizens' meeting was held, and finally an election was due (on November 19, at the same time as the federal elections).

Endlhausen and Deining take a little more time

The new Neufahrner mayor, Bichlmayer, seems to have reversed the order of the municipal council decision/citizens' meeting so as not to expose himself to suspicion that he "sells the Gmoa scho mecht", as he said right at the beginning.

The Neufahrner voted unanimously for the merger, even if some were annoyed that nothing had happened for so long and that things now have to happen so quickly.

"We can now umanandbazln for a long time," he said.

Wolfgang Naager's report shows what the proportions were like.

As of January 1, 1972, Egling, Neufahrn, Ergertshausen, Thanning and Moosham had 2,442 inhabitants.

"But if Deining with 665, Dingharting with 719 and Endlhausen with 421 inhabitants were added, it would be 4247," he wrote.

However, even then it was clear that these communities would take their time because they were not suffering.

"Deining and Dingharting have come to terms with Straßlach and Pullach, and the Endlhauser feel they are in good hands in Sauerlach."

The subject took up more space in our newspaper after the Eglingen town hall meeting on September 29th.

Many prominent politicians had appeared there, including the new District Administrator Dr.

Otmar Huber, SPD member of parliament Martin Erhard and school board member Richard Schmied.

In his speech, Huber approved of Egling's "central function", but also pointed out that many things that are necessary for a large community were still missing: a school building, a community center, a kindergarten, a sports hall, a mortuary.

He supports the concerns of the five communities.

If all goes well, the desired large community could be formed as early as January 1st.

The assembly spoke out not only for a new, larger Egling, but also for the construction of a new school building.

The citizens created final facts in the election on November 19th.

Voter turnout was high, over 90 percent.

A total of 1,272 voters were in favor of the greater community, only 151 against.

971 wanted it to be called Egling, 371 wanted Thanning.

The government confirmed the merger on January 1, 1973, and Georg Bichlmayr was appointed acting head of town hall.

Now it was in the world, the large community of Egling.
