The number of retirees to whom the General Organization for Social Insurance provides its services until the middle of this year has reached 684,000, according to the director of the Foundation, Yahya Ahmed.
In a statement to SANA reporter Ben Ahmed that the Foundation currently pays about 36 billion Syrian pounds, the value of monthly pensions for these retirees in all governorates, while the value of the pensions and compensations disbursed last year amounted to 335 billion Syrian pounds.
Ahmed explained that the number of loans granted to retirees since the beginning of this year until the end of last June amounted to 3,852 loans worth more than 4 billion and 93 million Syrian pounds, and the loan ceiling reaches one million Syrian pounds with an interest rate of 6 percent.
According to Ahmed, the number of employees registered in the insurance system from all public, private and joint sectors has reached more than 2 million and 27 thousand subscribers, pointing out that the work of the institution is fully automated, as more than one million and 751 thousand documents have been archived.
Ahmed indicated that the number of work injuries recorded since the beginning of this year until the end of last April was 432, including 176 occupational diseases, stressing that the institution is committed to treating the injured worker until he recovers or proves his disability.
Regarding requests for service addition, compensation and raising the percentage, Ahmed said that the institution is currently studying the rest of the applications submitted according to the decision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor that was issued last year, which includes accepting applications related to this for a period of one year, as the submission of applications according to it ended last May, revealing that a decision can be issued A similar new one if the justifying reasons are available.
