The Commercial Crime Bureau and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today (5th) raided various locations and companies in Hong Kong and arrested 4 men and 4 women (aged 30 to 68) on suspicion of "conspiracy to forge accounts" ” and “Making false statements by company directors, etc.”.
The arrested persons include a former senior executive of a listed company who is suspected of conspiring to forge multiple transactions involving more than 137 million yuan in order to inflate the asset value of the company involved in the 2018 financial year. The false accounts were also published in the 2018 in the annual report for the financial year.
The SFC's Enforcement Division referred the case to the police for investigation in August last year.
After further information exchange and in-depth investigation, the police and the SFC launched a joint operation today to arrest the relevant persons. All arrested persons are being detained for investigation.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing and further action will be taken in due course.
