In the sentence handed down in the Magistrate's Court in Kfar Saba, Judge Sharon claimed that this was a phenomenon of loss of governance.

The case that upset the country has come to an end?

The main suspect in the attack on police in Kafr Qassem was sentenced to 14 months in prison eight months ago.

In practice he will want a total of nine months in prison after deducting a third.

Recall that in October 2021 members of the Islamic Movement's al-Harasa security organization prevented police from entering the city hall in Kafr Qassem and even attacked them.

The hardest case of the assault occurred when police officers and an officer arrived at the town hall following a report that members of the guard organization were imprisoned in a human structure.

Documentation of the incident in Kafr Qassem from the body cameras of the police officers who were attacked

Islam Taha, 38, a member of the security organization, stood in front of the door and prevented police from entering the building.

Documentation from the police cameras, which was revealed in "Israel Today", shows Taha threatening the policeman.

"You want there to be blood in the village, you will not come in here," he said.

He later punched one of the policemen in front of him.

The policeman fell to the ground with the force of his fists.

The video was circulated on social media and shocked the country.

Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai said at the time: "We will not move to the agenda on incidents of violence against police officers as happened in Kafr Qassem."

Taha was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, injury, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and was convicted as part of a plea deal with the prosecution.

However, the arrangement did not include agreement on the punishment.

Police attack in Kfar Qassem

In the sentence handed down in the Magistrate's Court in Kfar Saba, Judge Aviv Sharon said: "Dangerous, broader, in certain areas of the country, of loss of governance, disobedience, defiance of the rule of law and damage to institutional governing marks - a dangerous phenomenon that must be condemned and fought without compromise."

He further stated: "The defendant continued to undermine the legal authority of the police, in the absence of any fear from law enforcement authorities, while slapping the officer 'we have a role in the village' and repeatedly refused to let the officer enter the building. "Let there be no mess in the village 'when there are a lot of riots around the policemen, when the policemen are in numerical inferiority and when they are afraid that Man Dhao will snatch their personal weapons from them."

On the beating of the policeman with fists, he stated: "This is a brutal attack on the policeman with three strong and powerful blows in front of him and inflicting bruises on his face. The intensity of the blows is also learned from the policeman's fall back.

Despite his harsh words, Taha was sentenced to 14 months in prison, seven months in prison on probation and compensation in the amount of NIS 7,500 for a beaten policeman.
