Arabic language teacher Omar Abdullah launched an initiative to encourage reading, in which 35 of his successful students from the eighth to the ninth grade participated, as his educational initiative is entering its third year in a row.

Abdullah indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that his initiative aims to motivate the student to seek knowledge and knowledge by himself without the teacher’s direct intervention, by accustoming him to reading in the library so that this behavior becomes a method and a habit in his daily life and without guidance so that the student does not become alienated and does not feel boring. Apply this in a practical way to remove barriers between the teacher and his students by taking them to the library of the Cultural Center and letting them search among the library shelves for what they want to read.

And the teacher Abdullah adds, saying: Every book or novel is a cultural and intellectual resource that pushes the student to think and search for solutions. Creating the appropriate psychological atmosphere for the young person to increase his self-confidence and his academic abilities.

In turn, the Director of the Cultural Center in Qamishli, Fayza Al-Qadri, confirmed that the initiative would encourage students to read, especially with the presence of social media and mobile phone games that occupied the minds of teenagers and kept them away from reading books, indicating that when she was the principal of a school in one of the schools in Amuda, she carried out a similar experience for her students and organized them. With teams competing for the first place in reading and giving them prizes as a kind of encouragement and encouragement.

In turn, the student, Ava Abdel Rahim, explained that it is the first time that she visits the library of the Cultural Center, which will not be the last, according to her, but she will continue to visit it to read as many books as possible on holidays in order to increase her reading skills, noting that her love for science and knowledge drives her to visit the library, especially since it is available It contains many books and novels that may not be available in private libraries, and at reasonable prices for everyone, especially students.

It is noteworthy that the participating students will visit the library on a weekly basis to borrow books, novels and stories of their choice to read in their spare time, and then return them to the library.
