The young woman, Suhaila Saab, succeeded in establishing her scientific project called “Kido”, which includes the implementation of interactive books for children designed from cloth as an integrated program to teach crafts with color and shape.
The young woman, Saab, who studied French literature at the University of Damascus and traveled to Italy in 2014 to continue her studies, said in her speech to the SANA Youth Bulletin: During my stay in Italy and through research and study, I got to know the “Montessori” approach, which was founded by Italian teacher and doctor Maria Montessori, which is teaching with fun, as this curriculum attracted me. Education and started planning in general
2020 to implement my project.
She added: I was acquainted with the existing models worldwide and the research related to the effect of movement and colors on the child, and I began implementing the idea and launching it in April 2021, where I contacted women from As-Suwayda and we began to apply the ideas to reality.
She said: I designed an educational cloth book project for children that is hand-stitched by several women in Sweida in an elaborate, beautiful, fun, useful and safe way for the child, and it is sold to those willing or distributed free of charge to children who are unable to buy.
She pointed out that the book included the complete Arabic and English alphabet letters, in addition to kinetic activities such as the human body, the four seasons, the five senses, the division of transportation and the traffic light, stressing that the most successful method of education is through interactive models.
She pointed out that the book is available to suit each age group of children. There is a group of books divided from the age of one day to 3 months, containing fixed drawings in black and white, because the infant distinguishes only shade and light, and from the age of 3 to 6 and 9 months, the basic colors are red, yellow and blue as they enhance the sense of sight when The child's perception of colors expands. As for the kinetic activity books, they include children from the age of one to three years, and there are books that contain letters from the age of 3 to 6 and 7 years.
She indicated that the books were manufactured from cloth in order to protect the environment and children and to ensure their sustainability, as the cloth is safe for the child and washable, stressing that the book has spread well in Syria and several countries and is also directed to children with disabilities, and she named her project “Kido” because it is an endearing call for the child in the sense of my little one.
