Rockstar released the innovations to the classic GTA trilogy a few months ago (which we've talked about more than once), but they were problematic, debugged, and do not meet the standards the developer is known for, or the standards set by community players who developed various mods that actually did the job well. More.

In recent months, a rumor has surfaced on the network claiming that Rockstar is interested in giving two of its classic titles similar treatment, and they are working hard on the innovations for GTA IV, and its 2010 western, Red Dead Redemption, which led to the excellent sequel from 2018.

Brockstar now appear to be reconsidering their move, with a new report from leaker

Tez

(Considered relatively credible when it comes to Rockstar) notes that the company decided to skip the planned innovations: "The innovations for GTA IV and RDR1 have been in the planning for several years, but Rockstar chose not to continue with the projects. The negative review of the GTA trilogy may be the reason for the decision." .

Tez continued: "The innovations were not in the development stages, they stayed in the concept stages for years. Rockstar's plans were to start with the trilogy, and from there continue with IV and RDR1. The decision to approve the development depended on how the trilogy would be received."

Part of the reason for the failed launch of the GTA trilogy is the fact that the development was done by an outside company called Grove Street, which while working on the same games in the past, but on their mobile version.

Tez (who had previously leaked the renewed GTA trilogy about a month before its launch date) claims that the source from which he received the news is considered credible, so there is a chance that it is indeed a true news and Brockstar understood the hint.

Add to the equation the profits that Rockstar earns from the online modes of GTA V and RDR2, and the fact that the innovations to GTA IV and RDR1 would probably come without compatible multiplayer modes that Rockstar could charge players regularly (like Season Pass), and it seems they do not Necessarily interested in investing in the work that these innovations are truly worth, or recreating the failure that left fans in bad taste.

Quite a few remakes and innovations are planned for us: The Last of Us, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Max Payne.

While some are certainly justified and require a remake, GTA IV and RDR1 are not necessarily considered redundant, as they are not currently available for the new or previous generation consoles.

While Xbox players can play the game through Backward Comatibillity, only PlayStation 3 owners can play it from Sony's side.

RDR1 for example, is not even available to PC gamers because it was exclusive to consoles.

Now it seems that the option has come off the table and we will not get to experience them again.

On the other hand, we have never received an official announcement from Rockstar about the innovations for these two innovations, so we may never know if these are really and they have indeed been canceled.

Rockstar is currently working on GTA 6, and various reports indicate that the game engine is ahead of its time.
