Two ministers in the UK government Boris Johnson announced their resignation today (Tuesday), saying they could no longer work for a government that has been tainted by several scandals.

Finance Minister Rishi Sonak and Health Minister Sajid Jabid have announced that they are resigning in letters posted to Twitter a few minutes apart.

The latest controversy in the government Johnson is facing is the resignation last week of Deputy Chief Whip Chris Fincher, who resigned on Thursday amid allegations that he caught and groped two men at a private dinner on Wednesday.

Fincher did not directly admit to the acts, but wrote in a letter to Johnson that "last night I drank way too much" and "I cried myself and other people."

"The public rightly expects a government that is run properly, in a serious and professional manner," Sonak wrote in his letter of resignation.

"I am aware that this may have been my last job as a minister, but I believe these values need to be fought for, and for that reason I am resigning."

“While preparing for a joint speech on economics, it dawned on me that our approaches are fundamentally different,” he added.

"I am sad to leave the government but I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that we cannot continue like this."

Jabid wrote that "it was a great honor to serve in this position, but unfortunately I can not continue with a clear conscience."

He added that the vote of no confidence in the prime minister last month "was a moment of humility, understanding and a new direction".

He also wrote "I'm sorry to say, however, that it became clear to me that the situation would not change under your leadership (Johnson) - so you lost my trust as well."

It was revealed today that similar complaints were filed against Fincher as early as 2019, when he moved into the Foreign Office under Johnson, who then served as the British Foreign Secretary.

Downing 10 has previously reported that Johnson was unaware of previous complaints.

But today the prime minister said that "three years ago a complaint was filed against Chris Fincher at the State Department. The complaint was clarified. He apologized. I was updated on the matter and if I were to go back, I would understand that he did not learn a lesson and did not intend to change."

He said, "I apologize to anyone who has been harmed. I just want to make it clear that there is no place in this government for a person who seeks to prey or exploits his status and power."

The percentage of support for the British prime minister fell to a low in May.

According to the Yogov poll, as of May 5, 68% said they were dissatisfied with its conduct - an increase compared to April, while only 26% supported it - a figure three percent lower than April.

Johnson's condition was relatively stable in late 2021, due to a relatively rapid recovery from the corona plague.

However, the line of revelations about his conduct and the conduct of his staff during the national corona closure imposed in the country due to the corona eroded in support of him very quickly.

The scandal began in November 2021, when the first news of a Christmas party during the closure was revealed in the British media.

Then began a wave of articles about social events involving alcohol and the disrespectful behavior of staff members at 10 Downing Street while state residents were forced to stay in their homes due to the closure.

The Prime Minister initially denied that such incidents had taken place.

But a few months later the police announced that they would investigate the reported incidents.

Johnson became the first British prime minister to break the law when he was fined for attending a birthday party in his honor, at which a beer bartender was photographed.

A total of 126 fines were handed out by police to participants for holding parties during the closure.

In addition, a report was published this month by senior British civil servant Sue Gray, which included a scathing critique of party culture at Prime Minister Boris Johnson's residence on Downing Street.

Gray highlighted in the report the failure of the leadership at 10 Downing Street and detailed how each incident happened.

Johnson attended eight events described in detail in the report.

Johnson again apologized, saying he had "learned the lesson" and that he took full responsibility for everything that happened during his tenure.

At the same time he tried to justify what was happening due to the pressure his team was under due to the plague.
