The Federal Motor Transport Authority draws a half-yearly balance sheet.

According to this, far fewer new vehicles were registered in the first six months than in the same period of 2021. There are reasons for this.

Berlin/Flensburg - Material bottlenecks and delivery problems continue to burden the German auto industry: In the first half of this year, almost 1.24 million new vehicles were registered, as the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) announced on Tuesday.

That was eleven percent less than in the same period last year.

The sales of electric cars, which have risen sharply for years, are now faltering again and again.

According to the KBA, 12.5 percent more battery cars were put on the road in the first six months than in the same period last year.

But with a view to June, the authority recorded a decline.

Just over 32,200 purely electric cars were newly registered last month, 3.5 percent fewer than in June last year.

It is the second month-on-month decline this year.

New registrations of electric drives were also down in April.
