Two trucks collided along the A21 Turin-Piacenza-Brescia at the Casteggio (Pavia) tollbooth.
Following the accident, some explosions occurred which also caused a column of smoke visible from a distance.
Under one of the two trucks, during the extinguishing operations, the body of a charred man was found, while another person is missing.
The highway was closed for a few hours in both directions in the section where the two vehicles collided, to allow for rescue operations.
In addition, two other truck drivers aged 60 and 57 were also injured, in a minor manner;
A firefighter who took part in the rescue was also slightly burned.
The explosions created a column of black smoke visible even at a distance of kilometers.
The carriageway of the A21 direct to Turin was reopened to traffic in the evening, while the section between the Voghera (Pavia) and Casteggio (Pavia) toll booths where the collision between the two vehicles occurred.
