The Tübingen biotech company Curevac has filed a lawsuit in Germany against the corona vaccine manufacturer Biontech SE and two subsidiaries.
The company speaks of patent infringement.
As Curevac further announced on Tuesday, it is seeking "fair" compensation for violating a number of intellectual property rights stemming from more than two decades of pioneering work in mRNA technology used in the manufacture and sale of Biontech/Pfizer's (Germany /USA) were used.
Tübingen - The lawsuit was brought before the Düsseldorf Regional Court.
Curevac says it is not seeking an injunction, nor does it intend to take any legal action that could interfere with the production, sale or distribution of Comirnaty.
The preparation from the Tübingen company Curevac is a so-called mRNA vaccine - like those from Biontech/Pfizer and Moderna (USA).
Biontech was initially unable to comment.
