freeing ourselves from dependence on Russian gas as quickly as possible in response to the crisis in Ukraine.
The four countries bordering the North Sea intend to install 65 gigawatts of offshore wind turbines in 2030 and 150 gigawatts in 2050 to provide the electricity needed for 230 million homes.
They alone would represent half of the target set by the EU for offshore wind by 2050.
“We want to quadruple our total capacity in offshore wind by 2030 and by ten by 2050 in Europe
,” said Mette Frederiksen, whose country is the European wind power leader.
"A vision that must become reality and we are determined to achieve
it," she said.
