Periodic check-ups and x-rays every six months are things that Ms. Lubna Omran was keen to do in order to maintain her safety and to reassure her health due to the presence of genetic factors and a family history of breast cancer.

Last year, the clinical examination that Lubna underwent revealed the presence of a small lump on the right side of the breast that she did not pay attention to because the result of the ultrasound and mammogram she had done earlier was reassuring, but the doctor requested a biopsy to perform a histopathological autopsy, so the analysis showed that the lump was cancerous with the transmission of infection to the knot in the right breast.

Lubna continues her conversation with a SANA reporter in Latakia to explain the treatment journey, which began with a surgical operation to remove the cancerous mass and five infected nodes in the right breast, after the doctors reassured her that the disease was still in an early stage.

Lubna underwent an integrated treatment plan after the surgery, which included 8 chemotherapy sessions and 22 radiology sessions.

Lubna recalls how her hair fell out after twenty days and the extent of the pain, pain and nausea that accompanied her in the first week of the doses, and she tried hard to hide her tears and the feelings of sadness and fear that moved inside her.

She asserts that she was drawing her strength from the stories of other injured women, especially since some of them are still young and from her husband, who has never abandoned her, as he insisted on being with her at the time of each dose despite the difficulty of his work and bearing her tired psychology and mood swings, in addition to the support of her children and the support of her best friends to be able of overcoming adversity.

Lubna describes her condition as stable at present, despite some physical aches, such as joint pain, osteoporosis and poor eyesight as a result of chemotherapy and radiology sessions.

Lubna, who thanked the medical and nursing staff at Tishreen Hospital for the good reception and treatment, concluded her speech with a message to every woman not to underestimate her health and to practice monthly self-examination or periodic examination during annual campaigns because it is the only way to avoid the pain of doses and bear the costs of treatment.
