Katharina Diem wants to stand for the FDP in the 2023 state election in the Munich-Land North constituency.

But she is not the only one.

Feldkirchen – District Councilor Katharina Diem (34) would like to run for the FDP in the 2023 state election in the Munich-Land North constituency.

Before that, she still has to prevail against Thomas Jännert, who has the same goal.

Diem still lives in Kirchheim, but is currently building a house in Feldkirchen with her husband and two daughters.

In 2013 she joined the FDP, a few years later with the Young Liberals (JuLis).

"My freedom and that of my fellow human beings has always been important to me. At some point I no longer just wanted to complain, but to help shape things myself.

So I'm with the FDP," reports the engineer for physical technology, who works in the automotive industry.

"Of course, Thomas is not very happy that I am applying"

Two years ago, she moved into the district council for the Liberals and prevailed at the nomination event against the Kirchheim FDP chairman Jännert in the fight for second place on the list.

"Of course, Thomas is not very happy that I am applying for the direct candidacy for the state parliament," admits Diem.

"We'll see who can prevail, but I'm very confident."

She knows large parts of the JuLis behind her, at whose general meeting she announced her candidacy and at the same time announced her departure from the youth organization of the FDP.

In March, an FDP local branch was founded in Feldkirchen, "they were looking for someone who already had a bit of experience and since I'm going to move to Feldkirchen soon anyway, I took over the local chairmanship," says Diem, who is also vice district chairman of her party is.

Decision on candidates will be made in October

Priorities that she would address in the state parliament are family, children and education policy.

"If you divide the tasks differently in the daycare centers, for example, so that the facility management does not also have to take on groups, then you will find more staff and the job becomes more attractive," says Diem.

She calls for more daycare centers, including those that are open around the clock.

The children's facilities need better financing, so that the quality and attractiveness of the profession increase.

"Schools must be able to act much more freely than before, they know exactly what priorities need to be set, not the administrators in the ministry," says Diem.

"In addition, Bavaria has been resting on the high level of school education for too long, that's over, we need completely new accents."

Who will stand as a direct candidate for the FDP in the northern constituency, whether Diem or January, will be decided at the nomination meeting on October 20th.
