Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a visit to Franconia on Tuesday.
With numerous ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats.
Nuremberg – It is an integral part of the Federal President's appointment calendar.
Once a year, the German head of state travels through Germany with ambassadors, diplomats and high-ranking representatives of international organizations.
This year, Frank-Walter Steinmeier stopped in Bavaria.
It all started on Tuesday, July 5, in Nuremberg.
Steinmeier on a visit to Franconia: The Federal President shoots at Putin in Nuremberg
The Federal President set out for Nuremberg with 150 diplomats.
The first thing to do here was the medium-sized pump manufacturer Leistritz.
Among Steinmeier's guests, however, was not the Ukrainian ambassador Melnyk, who has made headlines lately.
However, the Ukraine and the war with Russia was still a topic on the trip.
At a luncheon with the diplomatic corps in Nuremberg, Steinmeier sharply condemned the Russian war of aggression.
He called it a murderous crime against Ukraine.
According to Steinmeier, the international community must oppose this imperial warmongering.
“We have to defend ourselves.
We owe it to the many brave people of Ukraine who are resisting day in and day out,” he said, according to the speech transcript.
This war brings terrible suffering to millions of people.
"He is a murderous crime" for which Russia's President Vladimir Putin alone is responsible, Steinmeier said.
Germany stands firmly and resolutely on the side of Ukraine.

Steinmeier and the diplomatic corps also visit Erlangen and Bamberg
After visiting the Franconian metropolis, a trip to the science city of Erlangen and the historic cathedral city of Bamberg are also on the agenda.
In Nuremberg, Steinmeier will also visit the German National Museum with the diplomats, and a visit to the Helmholtz Institute in Erlangen is on the agenda.
Steinmeier wants to visit the cathedral in Bamberg and then give a speech in the new residence.
Since 1996, German Federal Presidents have regularly organized such information and encounter trips for the diplomatic corps.
In the past two years, however, it had been canceled due to the pandemic.
Previously, the trip went to a different federal state every year;
The goal was Rhineland-Palatinate in 2019, Bremen in 2018 and Saxony-Anhalt in 2017.
