Former judge Etty Kreif decided today (Tuesday) to run in the Likud primaries and submitted a formal request to shorten the qualifying period required before running in the party primaries.

According to the Likud constitution, party memberships of at least 16 months are required to run in the primaries, unless the chairman of the movement signs a shortening of the qualifying period.

On the table of Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, a number of requests are pending to shorten the PSM of new Likud candidates, including Kreif, Adv. Tali Gottlieb and Maj. Gen. Eliezer (Cheney) Marom.

Netanyahu is currently holding talks with Likud Center chairman Haim Katz on the Likud's primaries list and election arrangements, and only after these questions are agreed and approved is he expected to vacate the motions submitted to him. Individually.

However, according to Likud sources, it is estimated that Netanyahu will not necessarily be in a hurry to help the cricket, in light of his desire to dull the Likud's harsh messages against the justice system.

Kreif's decision to shorten the PSM was first reported on Channel 14.

Kreif left her position as a judge in 2019 following the "Sex for Appointment" affair, which involved Kreif and Adv. Efi Naveh, former head of the Bar Association. After a hearing was held in March 2021, Deputy Attorney General Shlomo Lemberger decided to close the case against them without indictment, "despite difficult factual findings that emerged from the investigation." Likud Rabbi Benjamin Netanyahu, Amit Hadad, and by his media adviser, Ofer Golan.

In December 2019, then-State Attorney Shai Nitzan decided to summon Naveh to a hearing before filing an indictment for offenses of taking bribes, fraud and breach of trust, and Kreif on suspicion of offenses of bribery and destruction of sight.

The decision to charge the two subject to a hearing was based, according to the prosecution, on the fact that Kreif repeatedly asked Mana to promote her appointment, in parallel and in combination with an intimate dialogue and "keeping the fire" between them.

The prosecution believed that Kreif met with Naveh both out of a desire and a purpose to help her, and also because of the friendship and attraction, and Naveh was aware of this.

However, after the hearing and hearing all the arguments and explanations of the defense, the Deputy State Attorney believed that "the assessment of the evidence in the case has changed."
