In July, Hartz IV recipients will receive a surcharge of 200 euros.
However, the specific payment date depends on the respective job center.
Berlin – The sharp rise in energy and food prices is becoming a burden, especially for people on low incomes.
Therefore, there should be a one-time payment of 200 euros for adult Hartz IV recipients in July.
For recipients of unemployment benefit I, the surcharge is 100 euros.
Hartz IV surcharge: Payment dates may vary
However, when the payment is made is a bit complicated.
Some Hartz IV recipients have already received the money - others have not.
In response to a request from the news portal
Der Westen
, the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs explains that the payment does not end up with all Hartz IV recipients at the same time.
Because: Three quarters of all job centers are organized as a joint institution of the Federal Employment Agency and the respective local authority.
In this case, the payment order and notification will be issued centrally on July 23, 2022, reports
Der Westen
.
The Federal Ministry of Social Affairs informed the portal: "This will ensure regular payment of the one-off payment in July 2022."
In the case of a further 104 job centers, which are run independently by local authorities, the federal states have the technical supervision and the federal ministry has no information on the payment dates.
In addition, there are other payment dates in August and September - if, for example, a person did not receive a supplement in July because it was not yet clear whether they were entitled to claim.
What benefits will Hartz IV recipients still receive in July?
Families receiving Hartz IV benefits will also receive a bonus of 100 euros per child this month.
This is granted independently of social security benefits and does not count as income.
The families receive the bonus together with the child benefit.

From July onwards there will be an immediate surcharge of 20 euros per month for children in low-income families.
It is intended for children, adolescents and young adults who are entitled to basic security, payments under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act or additional support for living expenses under the Federal Supply Act - or for whom child supplements are paid.
The immediate surcharge is considered a precursor to basic child security, which is to be introduced in the coming year.
