The man suspected of having fired on the crowd from a roof in Highland Park, on the day of the American national holiday, was arrested "
without incident
" on the evening of Monday July 4, after a brief car chase.
Earlier, the police had released his name and photo on a wanted poster.
Robert, known as “
Bobby
” E. Crimo III, a 22-year-old white man
“from the region”,
is now suspected of having fired dozens of shots at random, obviously seeking to cause the maximum number of victims.

The motivations for his murderous gesture remain very obscure, but, already, American Internet users have updated some surprising publications, probably posted by the young man on social networks.
The man would be the author of several rap clips, which he would publish as “
Awake the Rapper
” (“
The awakened rapper
”) and would notably have a YouTube account on which he would have published an explicit and disturbing video.
Entitled "
Toy soldier
", the clip mixes summary lyrics in which the author evokes his discomfort and even real fits of madness, and minimalist drawings which show him shooting blindly at a crowd before being shot in a pond. bloodshed by law enforcement.
Other elements, photos this time, also resurface, in particular some where we would see him attending a meeting of Donald Trump.
The man is easily recognizable thanks to a very characteristic flower-shaped tattoo, which also appears on the portrait released by the FBI and which covers part of his neck.
A photo shows him in an enigmatic outfit, reminiscent of the costume of Charlie, the character from Martin Handford's game books, in front of the banners of supporters of the former President of the United States.
On other photos, we see him again at another meeting, this time in street clothes, a cap screwed on his head.
The fragile trail of far-right terrorism
The supposed acquaintances of Robert E. Crimo with the American right have since fueled many fantasies.
Especially since a photo shows him still wrapped in a flag on which is inscribed a slogan of support for Donald Trump.
However, messages most likely posted on the suspect's Twitter account rather draw a more consensual political profile, according to the interest granted by the alleged killer to the publications of Joe Biden's government, but also to health institutions, or articles and slogans warning about climate change or opposing racism and anti-Semitism.

For the moment, the American police have not communicated on the hearing of the young man, which continues on Tuesday since his custody has been extended.
Accounts believed to belong to the killer on various social media platforms have since been deleted or suspended, including by Twitter and YouTube.
