A virtual currency scam occurred in Hung Hom.
At about 7 pm today (5th), two men came to a company in Hung Hom commercial center that reported to operate cryptocurrencies, and traded virtual currency worth about 1.6 million yuan with a young man in his 20s.
Among them, the two transferred the relevant "Tether Coins" to each other on the spot, and the other party paid "cash" to the two of them, and said that they needed to go out to get a cash counter to count the money, and then left the scene.
The two waited at the scene without fear of fraud, but they did not see the other party turn back for a long time. After checking, they found that the "money" they received was counterfeit with the words "practice coupons" printed on them. They were shocked and hurried to the police.
The police arrived at the scene to investigate, and are looking for the owner and the tenant information of the unit involved in the case, chasing the swindler and bringing him to justice.
The site is No. 37-39 Ma Tau Wai Road, Office 1, 10/F, Block B, Hung Hom Commercial Centre.
The name of the company, "CITY CRYPTO HK", was displayed outside the door of the courtroom involved in the case.
On-site sources said that the office concerned was suspected to be a shell company, but it was arranged like a smart office, but the computers in it were just decorations and failed to work.
Of the $1.6 million in "cash" money received by the two victims, only the two on the surface were genuine, and the rest were all counterfeit.
