This work would return to the “real causes of inflation” and “the abusive practices which would aggravate it”.

In turn, several political groups are looking at the price increases that hit household wallets every day.

This Monday, the RN group in the National Assembly tabled a resolution calling for the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the “

real causes of inflation

” and the “

abusive practices that would aggravate it

”.

"

The inflationary outbreak is now out of control

," said the group in a statement, denouncing in passing the measures taken by the executive to limit price increases.

The RN protests against an insufficient fight against “

crisis profiteers

”, and is annoyed by “

abusive, speculative and potentially fraudulent practices

” from which consumers would suffer.

It is essential to carry out additional investigative work to put an end to the abuses that would be established and to condemn them

”, concludes the press release.

This resolution must be voted on in public session before the commission is created.

Nevertheless, the RN is not the only parliamentary group wishing to look into this question: at the other end of the political spectrum, the elected representatives of Nupes have also asked for the creation of a commission of inquiry on this subject, pointing the role of “

large multinational corporations

” and “

speculation

” in the current situation.

Similarly, in the Senate, several groups have called for work on price increases.

The CRCE group thus suggested a "

fact-finding mission concerning the origins of inflation

", and the Senate's Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Sophie Primas, announced that it would "

address the question of purchasing power and causes of consumer goods price inflation

.

The first elements will be published in three weeks, on July 20.

Launching a commission of inquiry, as some actors suggested, would have been too long, the work usually taking six months, then explained to

Le Figaro

a senatorial source.

Same observation for a flash mission, requested by the Communist senators, which takes rather a month.

The elected officials therefore preferred to rely on the work and hearings currently being carried out within the framework of the Egalim monitoring group, to speed up the procedure and influence the debates on the bill aimed at protecting the purchasing power of households. .

For its part, Bercy will also look closely at this file: Monday, on France Inter, the Minister of Economy and Finance announced the launch of controls, "

sector by sector

", in order to ensure that the increases recorded in distribution for a few months are quite legitimate.

This work should make it possible to “

see if there are unacceptable margins

”, and, possibly, to sanction the “

profiteers of the inflationary crisis

”.

In food, price increases have been particularly strong in recent months.

In June, according to INSEE, labels were in turn hit by inflation, increasing by 5.7% over one year, the highest since July 2008: fresh products saw their bill climb by 6.2 %, against 5.7% for other food products.

In addition to food, all products combined, inflation reached 5.8% in June, over one year, weighing on household budgets.
