Russian government officials have sent an official document to the Jewish Agency's offices in Moscow instructing them to cease all operations in the country, the Jerusalem Post reported today (Tuesday).
The Jewish Agency has not officially confirmed the dramatic diplomatic and legal move mentioned, but senior members of the Indian organization have said that the letter has been received and that the next steps on the part of the agency have not yet been determined.
The Jewish Agency stated that "as part of the work of the Jewish Agency's delegation in Russia, we are occasionally required to make such and such adjustments, at the request of the authorities. Contacts with the authorities take place continuously, with a view to continuing our activities This type".

Thousands of Russian Jews have already completed the process of registering for immigration, but they are waiting for immigration flights, and such flights are almost non-existent.
The sanctions on Russia have caused most international airlines to stop flying to the country and therefore, Israeli officials explain that future immigrants are "stuck" in Russia.
Senior sources in the Jewish community in Russia told the Post that "people from the Jewish community are feeling that the Iron Curtain is going down these days and they are afraid that they will not be able to escape from the country."
According to the source, "some Jews said that the Russian authorities were trying to arrest them and that they feared for their lives."
One of the main goals of the Jewish Agency is to promote and address immigration from Jewish communities around the world.
If the Jewish Agency is unable to be active in Russia, it will be the first time in the last 30 years that it will be considered a hostile factor by the authorities - and this will have many consequences.
