The news comes five days after MK Yuli Edelstein announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy for the Likud presidency

MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) announced today (Tuesday) that he is retiring from political life.

"After 23 years as a Member of Knesset - during which I was privileged to serve as Minister of Finance, Minister of Intelligence, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee - I felt I and my family deserved some fresh air," he wrote.

He added: "I am proud of the achievements I have made in my various roles, in economics, statesmanship and security. Some have historical significance, such as: unveiling the Syrian nuclear program; inventing the first biennial budget of its kind in the world; Israel's entry into the OECD; 2012; and the outline of gas and the transformation of Israel into an energy power. "

In conclusion, he wrote: "I thank the members of the Likud and all the people of Israel for the rare privilege that has fallen to me to serve the homeland and influence issues concerning the existence and prosperity of the state. National and high-quality, led by Netanyahu and the Likud. "

It will be recalled that the news comes five days after MK Yuli Edelstein announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy for the Likud presidency in the upcoming primaries.
