Sabine Vöhringer from Straßlach-Dingharting has written a new thriller.
This time the hunt for murderers is on the Côte d'Azur.
Straßlach – Sensitive minds will never forget the beautiful scenery of Saint Tropez and the surrounding area for the rest of their lives, but only a few have the idea and what it takes to process the atmosphere in book form and thus derive double the pleasure from it.
The description of the Côte d'Azur on the first few pages flows effortlessly and elegantly from the pen of Sabine Vöhringer.
Her protagonist Conny von Klarg sees "the azure glittering sea, the deep blue sky, the pine trees and pink-red blooming oleander bushes on the strip between the lanes and the bougainvillea climbing on walls and terracotta-colored stone houses with shutters in bright light blue".
This time a travel journalist goes on a killer hunt
But this idyll is only the beautiful facade for a solid crime thriller.
The murder has already happened when the travel journalist Conny arrives in the fishing village.
She wants to write a hotel description for a travel journal, but then gets caught up in a tangle of family secrets.
Everyone seems to have a strangely special relationship with everyone else, so that dozens of motives for murder are conceivable that could have sent billionaire Henri Moreau to his grave.
The hotel owner is the first to be caught in the crosshairs of the police investigation.
But, God knows, she is not the only one, and the curious Conny gropes from one realization to the next, dares to venture onto someone else's property, tricks dangerous dogs, and is not at all afraid of potential murderers.
Your guardian angel seems
Right at the beginning of the novel, when she and her good friend Sven rattled across the Alps in a Cessna, it could all have been over very quickly.
Incidentally, this experience is taken directly from the life of the writer.
In fact, she has already flown over the Alps in a private plane, accompanied by a pilot.
The moment of shock when a mountain peak emerged from the fog hit her hard and she won't forget it anytime soon.
sequel already planned
The novel is designed to build up the tension in small but intense arcs.
Like the moment when Conny found out about the death of her parents and, out of desperation, plunged into the sea and saw the end right in front of her eyes: "The waves swallowed her.
She became one with life and death.
Surrendered to the black current that drew her into infinity.” But wait.
This character in the novel, who will also lead the investigations in the second volume, will not be over so quickly.
Hopefully as original as the first.
In any case, the enthusiasm for work is unbroken: Sabine Vöhringer is currently trying to write two books a year.
The next thriller with the Munich policeman Tom Perlinger has already been written and submitted.
It will appear in August to coincide with the holiday season.
Meanwhile, the author is already working on the continuation of the Conny von Klarg series.
