For quite a few years now, the Netanya municipality has been giving high priority to the issue of sustainability and environmental protection, led by the mayor, Miriam Feierberg-Icher.

The city prides itself on the deployment and accessibility of the issue of recycling for the residents in order to reduce the pollution caused by burying waste in the ground.

This summer, Netanya residents will have the opportunity to show how green and environmentally friendly the city is, as part of the "Summer of Recycling" competition in collaboration with the Walla! Website, the Tamir Recycling Corporation and the local government center, in which about 20 leading authorities will take part.

The Netanya Municipality organizes four events to encourage recycling on Thursdays in Independence Square, starting at

In preparation for the big holiday, about 7,000 students in the elementary schools were given activity booklets on the subject of recycling packages for the orange bin, which were produced together with the Tamir Recycling Corporation.

Apart from Netanya, in July about 20 leading authorities will take part in the project, with the aim of encouraging more and more families to join the recycling revolution and separate packaging already at home.

The symbols can be found on thousands of packages at various points of sale and these make recycling much more accessible and clear.
