The Ministry of Health in Panama announced that it had recorded the first case of monkeypox virus.
Russia Today quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: “The case that was registered in the country belongs to a 30-year-old man who is receiving medical assistance,” noting that the ministry is identifying followers and contacts in order to contain the spread of the virus.
The World Health Organization had previously confirmed that more than 250 cases of the disease had been reported in more than 20 countries around the world.
