Paris: in an email sent by mistake to the Szpiner team, a Hidalgo deputy invokes the legislative elections to postpone a vote

2022-07-05T16:17:13.355Z

Arrested, the mayor of the capital preferred to question the legality of reading this email rather than responding to its ambiguous content.

The Paris Council is not just the place for verbal contests between Anne Hidalgo (PS) and Rachida Dati (LR).

Between two deliberations, other elected officials can create a controversy, sometimes in spite of themselves.

This is the case of the ecologist deputy to the mayor of Paris, Christophe Nadjovski, who sent - by mistake - to Francis Szpiner's chief of staff "

an email which was not intended for him

", in which he advised to shift the vote on a text on paid parking in the Bois de Boulogne (16th arrondissement) after the legislative elections of 12 and 19 June.

Francis Szpiner, LR mayor of the 16th arrondissement, read this Tuesday before the Council of Paris said email dated May 16, which

Le Figaro

was able to consult.

In this text, originally intended for his collaborators, Christophe Nadjovski writes that "

Szpiner is playing the legislative elections, hence his request

" to maintain free parking near the large concessions, and concludes, acerbically, by saying that "

given the price that the members of these concessions pay for their activities, they can pay for parking, especially for their SUV

”.

“Ridiculous political calculations”

The deputy in charge of public space recommends "

waiting a month, letting the elections pass, and then we implement the deliberation, according to the procedures that we have defined within the executive, and which will ultimately be arbitrated by the mayor

.

Not knowing that Francis Szpiner's chief of staff was still in the loop of emails, Christophe Nadjovski also specifies that "

we must not accept the requests expressed by Szpiner: they would empty the deliberation adopted by the Council of Paris

”.

After a partial reading of the missive, Francis Szpiner deemed this email "

perfectly unacceptable

" and deplored "

political calculations on the legislative elections (which) are ridiculous

".

Anne Hidalgo, without commenting on the content of her deputy's remarks, preferred to question the legality of this public revelation.

Master Szpiner, question of law: do you really have the right to report private correspondence in a public forum?

“, launched the mayor of Paris with irony.

To which the person concerned, a lawyer by profession, replied that "

instead of condemning the behavior of (his) deputy, (she) reproaches him for making public

" an email, which was nevertheless addressed to his chief of staff .
