Paris Saint-Germain have terminated coach Mauricio Pochettino's contract, the Ligue 1 club said on Tuesday, ending the Argentine's 18-month spell with the French champions, despite the fact that he still had one year contract.
"Paris Saint-Germain confirms that Mauricio Pochettino has terminated his role at the club," the club said in a statement.
"The club wants to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his team for their work and wishes them the best for the future."
Why did Kylian Mbappé decide to stay at PSG?
Pochettino, who was appointed in January 2021, won the Ligue 1 title in 2021-22 and the Coupe de France in 2020-21 but failed to win the Champions League, the only major trophy that has eluded PSG since they Qatar Sports Investment took over the club in 2011.
Christophe Galtier is set to replace Pochettino, with club president Nasser al-Khelaifi saying last month they were in talks with Nice, who also moved quickly to appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre.
