The Ashkelon Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday) ordered the release on house arrest of a 44-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a Palestinian near Ariel.
The detainee is a resident of Samaria, married and the father of three children, with no criminal record and a graduate of military service in the navy.
He was arrested about two weeks ago, after arriving at the Ariel police to file a complaint about the difficult lynching he allegedly went through, along with another group of children near the Ariel city fence.
To his amazement, he was arrested and transferred to the GSS for questioning, while he was forbidden to meet with a lawyer.
Only after public pressure was the detainee allowed to meet with Adv. Adi Keidar from Hanano. According to the Palestinians, during the incident, a young Palestinian was stabbed to death by Jews.
Advocate Keidar said: “The court on the release of the murder suspect.
We hope that this is the beginning of the collapse of this whole case, that the whole thing was an incident that started at the initiative of Arab rioters who turned out to be terrorists, and later the suspect and others were forced to defend themselves.
The same event is a classic self-defense event.
I sincerely hope that the State Attorney's Office will recover, make the right decision and close this case soon. "
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, responded to the release: "The citizen should not have been arrested in the first place and certainly not for the GSS investigation under the conditions that terrorists and terrorists receive.
His release under restrictive conditions, is a first step in redressing the injustice towards a man who protected his life and the lives of nearly 20 children who were attacked by a gang of violent terrorists.
