Tragic incident at Tegernsee: A 17-year-old capsized on Saturday (July 2nd) while fishing with his boat.

The body was recovered on Sunday evening.

Update from Monday, 9.20 a.m .:

As the police announced on Monday morning, the 17-year-old was located around 9 p.m. on Sunday with the help of a diving robot.

Divers took over the recovery of the body.

The 17-year-old was roughly in the area where he had capsized with the kayak.

According to the police, only the death of the young man could be determined after the rescue.

He was unequivocally identified as the 17-year-old wanted.

Officials of the permanent criminal service (KDD) took over the first investigations into the death for the criminal police.

Further processing is now at the Miesbach criminal police station.

So far there have been no indications of third-party involvement, the investigators assume that the accident was tragic.

Update from Sunday, 6.30 p.m .:

The search for the missing youth remained unsuccessful until early Sunday evening.

The rescue workers were on duty again throughout the afternoon with a large contingent.

The DLRG Bayern even provided a technically high-quality underwater drone with navigation system for the search.

According to Caroline Amann from the DLRG Gmund, it was the first time that the device was used at Tegernsee.

Unfortunately initially in vain.

As a spokesman for the police emphasized in the evening, the operation would continue in the coming days until the missing person was found.

Original message:

Rottach-Egern

– The police were informed of an overturned kayak and calls for help on Lake Tegernsee on Saturday (July 2nd) at around 11.50 a.m. via an emergency call.

As reported by the police, a 17-year-old from Emmering (Fürstenfeldbruck district) was fishing with his father in the Schorn/Ganghoferstrasse area in Rottach-Egern on Lake Tegernsee.

Everyone sat in their own kayak.

After the father drove back to shore, he noticed that his son's boat had capsized and the youth was no longer to be seen.

The boat probably capsized due to the strong wind.

Tegernsee: Numerous divers and helicopters in action

According to the police, a large search operation was started immediately.

Numerous emergency services and divers from the Rottach-Egern, Bad Wiessee and Gmund water rescue services as well as the DLRG local groups in Tegernsee and Gmund, the fire brigades and the police boat were deployed.

The 17-year-old was also searched for from the air by helicopter.

Tegernsee: The search for a young person continues today (July 3).

So far the search has been unsuccessful.

As a police spokesman said when asked on Sunday morning, the young person could not be found so far.

The problem was, among other things, the poor visibility that currently prevails in Tegernsee.

"Due to the heavy rain, we have a lot of sediment in the lake at the moment," explains Caroline Amann from the DLRG Gmund, herself a trained rescue diver.

The emergency services were therefore partly flying blind.

The search continues.

From midday, as soon as the Tegernsee triathlon that started has ended, divers will be in action again.
