The mainland engineering vessel "Fujing 001" sank in inland waters about 160 nautical miles southwest of Hong Kong during the tropical cyclone Siam last Saturday (July 2). About 30 crew members abandoned the ship to escape, and the Hong Kong Government Flying Service arrived on the scene that day to help rescue 3 crew members.
However, since the incident, mainland rescuers have rescued another crew member and retrieved 12 bodies. 14 crew members are still missing.
The Government Flying Service dispatched fixed-wing aircraft twice today (5th) to continue to participate in the search and rescue, but no discovery has yet been made.
It has been the fourth day since the incident. The Government Flying Service dispatched fixed-wing aircraft twice today to carry out search and rescue operations. The operation is expected to last for a total of 10 hours until 7pm tonight.
Since the first day of search and rescue, the flight service team has searched about 3,520 square nautical miles.

At 3:50 a.m. last Saturday, when the "Fujing 001" involved dropped anchor in the waters near Yangjiang in the mainland to escape the typhoon, the anchor chain broke and the hull broke in two. About 30 crew members abandoned the ship to escape.
The Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre was notified by the Guangdong Rescue Coordination Centre to provide emergency rescue services; the Centre immediately coordinated the Government Flying Service to conduct search and rescue work.
As of 3:00 p.m. that day, the GFS dispatched 2 fixed-wing aircraft and 4 helicopters to the scene to assist, successfully rescued 3 crew members and returned to the GFS headquarters, where they were transferred to the hospital by ambulance.
As of yesterday (4th), CCTV reported that Guangdong search and rescue personnel rescued another male crew member of "Fujiing 001" in the early morning, and the rescued person is in stable condition.
Together with the crew member, a total of 4 people were rescued in the accident, and 12 other bodies were recovered by mainland rescuers and their identities were confirmed.
Search and rescue operations at the scene continue.
