.: There was initially no trace of the suspected shooter, about ten hours after the crime at the holiday parade in the USA, the young man was arrested after a chase (see previous update).
As now reported by the media, the alleged shooter is said to have been identified by the weapon.
Investigators found DNA traces on the gun that the suspect left behind at the scene in Highland Park, north of Chicago (Illinois state), the US broadcaster

He is said to have fired the shots indiscriminately into the crowd from a building roof.
Investigators also found that the suspect was wearing women's clothing at one point on the day of the crime,

The exact background to the fatal shots in Highland Park in the USA are still unclear the day after the fact.
The suspect wanted by the police has now been caught (see previous update).
He is a 22-year-old man who police consider "very dangerous".
Hours after the attack, police released the identity and a mugshot.
He was first officially designated a "person of interest," a sort of precursor to a suspect.

The alleged perpetrator describes himself as a musician and presents himself online with the stage name "Awake the Rapper".
According to US media, he had published violent content on online platforms in the past.

a video with drawings of a shooter and people being shot, and a voice saying "I just have to do it" and "Nothing can stop me, not even myself".

.: Shots were suddenly fired at the 4th of July ceremonial parade in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago.
At least six people died.
According to the city, 15 injured were transported to a hospital.
A doctor at a Highland Park hospital said it had treated patients aged 8 to 85 with gunshot wounds, including several children.

US broadcasters reported on Monday evening (local time), citing the local police, that the 22-year-old had been arrested.
The US federal police FBI had previously announced that they were looking for the accused of "multiple homicides" at the US Independence Day parade in Highland Park - a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
