The Agricultural Sub-Committee in Al-Hasakah Governorate discussed the agricultural plan for the next agricultural season, the reality of livestock and the marketing of wheat for the current season.
Al-Hasakah Governor Ghassan Khalil stated that the aim of the meeting was to approve the agricultural plan for the upcoming “summer and winter” seasons, and to determine the reality of livestock that were affected by drought, the lack of pastures and the rationed fodder after the “Qasd” militia backed by the American occupation forces seized and looted the fodder warehouses in the governorate. Committees to conduct an accurate census of livestock in order to arrive at real numbers to start distributing the rationed fodder accordingly.
For his part, the Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ali Khallouf, explained that the committee approved the agricultural plan for the next winter season, which included planting 290,000 hectares of irrigated wheat and 435 thousand hectares of rainfed wheat, and for irrigated barley 28,250 hectares and 215800 hectares of rainfed barley, while the plan for the cotton crop included planting 6800 hectares and 5200 hectares of medicinal and aromatic crops. Pointing to the completion of the harvest work for the entire harvestable agricultural areas for the wheat crop during the current season.
The director of the branch of the Syrian Grain Corporation, Abdullah Abdullah, indicated to the continuation of wheat marketing operations to three centers approved by the Agricultural Committee, namely “Livestock, Tawarij and Jarjem” and that the marketing operations are proceeding normally under the procedures and facilities provided by the Corporation to receive the farmers’ full production of wheat.
Abdullah added that the total quantity marketed so far to the three centers amounted to 11,800 tons of wheat, referring to the marketing difficulties for farmers and producers represented by the illegal presence of the American and Turkish occupiers and the “Qasd” militia and their seizure of the axes of roads that reach the approved centers for marketing and forcing farmers to hand over their production For the centers seized by the "SDF".
In turn, the director of the branch of the General Organization for Feed, Qusai Hamko, pointed out that the branch is ready to distribute the rationed feed to livestock breeders after the committees have completed the audits and statistics related to livestock to reach real numbers for them and distribute the rations according to these numbers.
