Nanotechnology is making its way to practical application through research, doctoral and master's theses carried out by Al-Baath University students in various fields of life, believing in the importance of nanoscience, which has become one of the most advanced and advanced branches of modern science.
The first master’s thesis for the application of nanotechnology to wheat crop was recently discussed at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at Al-Baath University, by student Ahmed Attia, titled (The Effect of Silver Nitrate Particles on Quantitative and Qualitative Productivity Indicators of Durum Wheat in the Central Region of Syria).
Attia confirmed to the SANA Youth Bulletin that based on the importance of nanotechnology and the lack of local research that dealt with the effect of nanoparticles on the germination and growth of crops in general and wheat in particular, it was necessary to shed light on the importance of silver nanoparticles and their role in the germination and growth of wheat, as it is the most important strategic crop in Syrian.
He pointed out that the research aims to detect the biological composition of silver nanoparticles by lemon juice extract and to know the extent of their impact on the productivity indicators studied in the laboratory and in the field for durum wheat Sham 7 class, in addition to studying the effect of these particles on the protein signature of grains.
In turn, Dr. Lina Al-Naddaf, the scientific supervisor of the thesis, confirmed that the research is the beginning of the way to apply nanotechnology to the wheat crop, as the results were promising and the resulting gluten percentage was high, noting that the research is continuing towards studying the path of the nanoparticle within the plant during the different stages of growth.
Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, explained the importance of modern nanotechnology, which opened the doors of knowledge and expanded the horizons of scientific research and its activation in industries and applications that serve reality and society.
