By providing the department with a new device for retinal surgery, worth 85 million Syrian pounds, about 30 vitreous surgeries were performed during the past few days.

The hospital director, Dr. Obeida Al-Mufti Bein, told SANA reporter in Aleppo: “The return to work in the eye hospital began a year ago, where surgeries are performed and medical services are provided to patients, and with the hospital being provided with a new device for retinal surgery on the initiative of the donor Badr El-Din Dakkak, the retinal system has been completed and work has resumed in This section,” indicating that the device is a microscope for endoscopy and vision of the retina during operations and helps to see what the surgeon is doing to spread the benefit to the assistant doctors and residents in the hospital and to enhance the educational role of the hospital.

Al-Mufti added: “The launch of this department has saved a lot of burdens on patients due to the high cost of this surgery outside the hospital, as it is performed in the department free of charge for citizens.

Al-Mufti pointed out that medical services will continue to be provided in the hospital, as well as strabismus, cornea, glaucoma and laser operations, where about 300 patients are received daily and 20 operations are performed for free.

SANA’s camera was briefed on the reality of providing medical services in the hospital, and Dr. Marwan Sabsabi, a specialist in eye pilgrims and blepharoplasty, spoke about the in-kind medical services provided to patients in various specialties, including cataracts, cornea, vitreous and retina, eyelids and tear duct cancers, where patients are received and the initial examination is performed by the competent authorities.

His role is that the resident Dr. Hazem Al-Ahmad conducts an eye examination for patients and provides assistance to surgeons and training in performing operations, noting the great benefit he achieves through gaining practical experience, and this was confirmed by the resident Dr. Rayan Hamami, pointing to the emergency services that are provided 24 hours a day from trauma and Burns, treatment of inflammatory conditions of the eye, patients with glaucoma and strabismus, and examination of cases of lazy eye in children.
