It's a small “garnished” hotel in the eastern suburbs of Paris that looks like it came straight out of a photo by Robert Doisneau.

Cracked facade, vintage cement tiles, faded yellow “Hotel” letters hung on the balcony.

For the dark and much less poetic side, there is the dilapidated state, the paintings that date back to the 1950s, the wallpaper in the rooms peeled off and soaked with humidity, the single shower for the 29 tenants, the squat toilet.

In addition, mice, cockroaches and bedbugs.
