The RN and LR will not censor the government

Pure and perfect contempt.

In the ranks of the National Rally, there is no doubt about the behavior to adopt in the face of the motion of censure that the left-wing coalition (Nupes) aims to table this Wednesday against Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

No question of mixing their voices with those of La France insoumise,

“noisy”

and

“muddled” opposition,

whose elected RNs seek at all costs to stand out in form and substance.

“The position will be refined this Wednesday in a group meeting,

assures its secretary general Renaud Labaye.

But there is a social emergency on purchasing power.

To censor the government would be to postpone this emergency until the start of the school year…”

Beyond this social argument, there is a more political one.

That of multiplying the pledges of responsibility to accelerate the company of

“institutionalization”

of the party.

And no longer appear as a simple force of opposition but as a possible alternation.

“Our strategy is to be a government opposition,

aims the special adviser to Marine Le Pen, Philippe Olivier.

We are going to be combative, but within the framework of the institutions.

In a sober, thoughtful and controlled way.

We will be all the more perceived as responsible and republican as La France insoumise will appear scruffy and irresponsible.

The right, for its part, has been repeating it for several weeks now: in Parliament, it will be a firm but constructive opposition.

If the LR parliamentarians would not have voted for confidence in the government of Élisabeth Borne if the latter had requested it, they do not, however, intend to go in the direction of the motion of censure presented by La France insoumise.

The right-wing deputies will therefore abstain during this election, or will vote against.

“The idea is not to bring down the government or to make a political coup.

What image would we give to the French?

We are not going to block the institution with an unnatural alliance"

, informs Annie Genevard, the president of the Republicans and deputy of Doubs, recalling that the objective of her party is to

"advance its proposals"

in the National Assembly.

"The sense of responsibilities"

A vision shared by a very large part of the parliamentarians of the right at the Palais Bourbon, who, as during the previous legislature, wish to set themselves up as a reasonable and serious opposition.

“We were not elected to block the country.

We are in a period where the opposition parties must have a sense of responsibility

,” explains Émilie Bonnivard, MP for Savoie.

According to her, the political movements represented in the National Assembly have no interest in voting for this motion of censure, which would overthrow the government but would in no way change the balance of power in the Hemicycle.

“We will be demanding with the government on all the texts of law that it will present, and if we see that these are not going in the right direction, we will vote against”

, she warns, however.
