The Transport Department said today (April 5) that the department is implementing a six-month trial and will install new assistive devices at four pedestrian crossings this month. When the red light is projected on the waiting position on the sidewalk, the red light reflected from the ground or the mobile phone reminds pedestrians not to cross the road when the "red portrait" signal is on, so as to enhance the safety awareness of pedestrians.

Pedestrian crossings at four intersections will install auxiliary devices successively in July:

- Percival Street / Fu Ming Street (installation completed)

- Tsuen Wan Market Street near Yan Chai Hospital

- Shatin Centre Street near Shatin Town Centre Bus Terminus

-Waterloo Road/Helbock Road

Members of the public may refer to the Transport Department's website for more information on assistive devices. After the trial is completed, the Department will review the effectiveness of the devices and consider future directions.
