Three earthquakes hit the eastern coast of the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula within one hour of dawn today, without information about injuries or material damage.
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted the regional branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences as saying in a statement that "an earthquake measuring 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale hit the village of Ust-Kamchatsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula," noting that the epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 18 kilometers.
The statement added: A second earthquake with a magnitude of four was also recorded, followed by a third earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 at a distance of 11 kilometers from the village and at a depth of 27 kilometers.
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Russian province of Irkutsk on the eighth of last month, without information on casualties or material damage.
